Turnaround for Children CEO Brigid Ahern Presents at Forum for Youth Investment Convening

Turnaround for Children CEO, Brigid Ahern, discusses the science of learning and development at the Forum for Youth Investment convening.

Turnaround for Children participated in the Forum for Youth Investment convening “Building Adult Capacity Across the Systems of Learning and Development.” The two-day event brought together over 100 in- and out-of-school time professionals interested in developing adult capacity in the settings where children and youth spend their time and learn.

Turnaround’s President and CEO, Brigid Ahern, presented on the science of learning and development, challenging attendees to think about how the science can help create more equitable systems that reveal the potential in all children.

As part of the convening, Ahern and Turnaround staff members Katie Brackenridge, Becky Myers, and Laura Sikes toured MuseumLab (part of the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh), which features interactive exhibits  by “makers” of the arts and sciences. MuseumLab also houses the Manchester Academic Charter School within the space. According to Myers, the visit prompted them to think about all the places and spaces where learning happens and the diversity of the people who are involved.
